Transform from manual labour to machine operators
We recognise that absence due to sickness remains high in the heavy ‘outdoor’ disciplines, which is logical. After all, our bodies are not designed to carry out protracted, heavy work. That is why we need to continue to mechanise. Instead of digging by hand, we now do earthmoving work using vacuum excavation equipment. Instead of heavy motorised tools, we are switching over to powerful battery tools. We intend to implement the use of exoskeletons. This will lighten the work. The cranes on lorries is our platform with which to connect the various mechanisations. Ultimately this will be reflected in a reduction of sickness absence and fitter colleagues.
